We have a new P2P in our area and he is trying big time to get some Inspections .
This #3 I think so far .
See his $75;00 of certificate .
Did not work for the last and expect it will not work now ..... Roy

Bill Mullens posted this letter below elsewhere and it is so true .

Mike Holmes' people continue to try to recruit inspectors to be his 'front men' working for next to nothing and accepting 100% of the liability. The Holmes people are also not the least concerned about training or credentials. They approached me some time ago, and I asked them about the level of qualifications needed. They found it commendable that I and my inspectors carry the RHI, the NCH, PHPI and other credentials, but they were very clear that this was not necessary. When I pushed the point further, the interview ended very quickly, and apparently even with 18 years of inspecting and a fairly active career in association business, I am not qualified to be a Holmes inspector.

Now unfortunately we have Sears and Carson Dunlop doing pretty well the same thing.

Despite the long efforts of many to make this a professional occupation, Holmes, CD, Sears and some others prefer to relegate our service to the level of a 'commodity' to be marketed as such rather than a professional service. This activity is a dangerous one that threatens our very existence as a credible and consumer-concerned service.

None of us individuals have the marketing budgets of Holmes, Sears, Carson Dunlop, Amerispec, or Pillar to Post, etc., so we have to sit back as they water down our relevance.

Licensing might be able to overcome some of this by requiring at least a certain level of expertise and training, but it just might be too late. Maybe we can start selling Sham-Wows at our inspections too.

I agree Roy,

Those are words from a true leader and worth repeating.

United we stand, divided we fall; and time is running out...

It is time to put our pity differences aside, unite and fight the battle!

Hey here is an idea... why don't we approach CREA and see if we can get the Realtors to lobby the government on behalf of the inspection profession to licence home inspectors? If we all stand together and united maybe we can get licencing by April 30th!    Grin  Cheesy

As long as OAHI and its fraudulent activities continue the rest of us are in good hands!
