Any discussion whether or not Mike Holmes is qualified to carry out home inspections is absolutely irrelevant because he obviously has no intention to get personally involved in this business except for criticising the Canadian Home Inspection Industry to raise interest for his TV shows.

If he hires “Registered Home Inspectors” these individuals are obligated under their obtained designation to carry out inspections in accordance with the Standards of Practice adopted by the OAHI. It seems in my view advisable that those home inspectors who are contemplating to work for Mike Holmes consult a lawyer before entering in a binding contract with this “Elephant in the China Shop.”

“Building Code Requirements” are an absolute nonissue because private home inspectors are not obligated to address a noncompliance unless it represents actually a hazardous condition.
